Election Day Voting has Begun for the Preston By-election

Elections Nova Scotia – Today, Tuesday, August 8, 2023, is election day in the electoral district of Preston. Election day polls are open from 8 am – 8 pm.

To be eligible to vote in the Preston by-election voters must be 18 years of age, a Canadian citizen, reside in Preston, and have lived in Nova Scotia since January 7, 2023.

Elections Nova Scotia reminds voters in Preston that today they may vote at their assigned voting location or at the returning office, 293 Main Street, Dartmouth. Preston voters can find their election day voting location on their voter information card (VIC) or by entering their address in the ‘where do I vote’ tool on the Elections Nova Scotia website (electionsnovascotia.ca).

Voters in Preston can bring their VIC if they have one and ID, but these are not necessary. Voters without current ID can take an oath to attest to their eligibility and vote. Eligible voters can be added to the list of electors when they vote.

Voters are reminded that the deadline to apply in person or by agent for a write-in ballot kit is 3 pm on election day. All write-in ballot kits must be returned by 8 pm on Tuesday, August 8 to be accepted.
